At the age of 25, Hope Wiseman is the founder of Mary and Main a dispensary set to open in Prince George’s County, Maryland, the first dispensary in the county, during January 2018. This opening makes Hope the youngest African American dispensary owner in the nation.
In the beginning, Hope saw the disparities of women and African Americans in the cannabis industry and made it her mission to do something about it. Mary and Main became the idea that was birthed and nurtured with help of Hope’s mother, Dr. Octavia Simkins-Wiseman, and co-founders, Dr. Larry Bryant and Dexter Parker.
Within 3 years of getting her license for the dispensary and using her background in finance, she was able to get a seed capital to get Mary & Main off the ground. As of now, Hope finds it important to educate all on the need to have more minorities and millennials involved in the cannabis industry. She says that Mary and Main won’t be your typical dispensary but become a hub for cannabis education and networking.
Though, being a dispensary owner wasn’t what Hope Wiseman an Economics graduate from Spelman College expected. And it being far away from her career stint as an NFL cheerleader, Hope finds that Mary & Main is the best and most influential career choice that she could have made. She is in a great position to educate and encourage everyone, with many different backgrounds, that it is a priority that there are more people of color and women in the cannabis industry.
